Tabraiz Shamsi signs for PSL 9 draft

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has added another star spinner to its roster of foreign players for the ninth edition of the tournament.

South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi, who played for Karachi Kings in the previous PSL, has signed for the HBL PSL draft, according to the league’s official account on social media website X.

Shamsi, who is currently ranked as the No-1 T20I bowler in the world, had impressed with his variations and wicket-taking ability in the last PSL, where he picked up 10 wickets in seven matches at an economy rate of 7.29.

He will be hoping to replicate his form in the upcoming edition of the league, which is scheduled to start from January 20, 2024.

The PSL is a men’s Twenty20 cricket league contested by six city-based franchise teams, founded in 2015 by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The league has attracted some of the best T20 players from around the world, and has produced some thrilling matches and memorable moments for the fans. The current champions are Lahore Qalandars, who won their second title in the 2023 season.

The drafting of PSL 9 will be held on December 13 in Lahore, where a sizeable number of international players participate.

Some of the big names who have already become a part of the draft include England’s Tom Cadmore, Alex Hales, Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Garbaz, South Africa’s Riley Rossouw, Reci van der Deusen, and New Zealand Colin Munro.

The fans can expect a high-quality and competitive tournament, as the teams vie for the coveted trophy and the prize money.
