New Delhi: A bizarre case in the Gunda district of Uttar Pradesh has surfaced, showing how a parent’s lack of supervision over online games is a heavy financial burden for the former.

In Gonda, two children aged 12 and under 14 spent nearly 100,000 rupees from their parents’ accounts to trade Garena Free Fire games online. The two children have spent nearly 7,000 and 90,000 rupees from their parents’ online bank accounts to buy diamonds and clothing for Free Fire.

The incident came to light when the parents of these children went to the bank to withdraw tuition and other course-related expenses. But they found that the money in the bank account had been withdrawn. They first suspected that this was a cybercrime or bank account hacking. However, a police investigation revealed that the children had access to Google Pay and other online banking login information, and they used this information to pay for the purchase of online games.

Gonda police chief Santosh Mishra told Zee Media that similar cases have been reported in the area where children spent money on online games from their parents’ accounts. He also suggested that both parents strengthen parental supervision of such online games to protect minors. He also emphasized the importance of keeping bank records safe so as not to be abused by anyone, including their own children.
