Sri Lanka’s batting coach Grant Flower has been quarantined after testing positive for the coronavirus on Friday.

When the news broke, the Sri Lanka cricket team was preparing for a home series against India.

The 50-year-old Flower returned from England, where Sri Lanka participated in the one-day 2020 International Series, when he developed symptoms of coronavirus and was preparing for the Indian game next week.

The board said: “Once identified, Flower is isolated from other team members who are undergoing quarantine after returning from England.”

It said Flower showed “mild symptoms”, prompting testing for Covid-19.

Soon after the return of the Sri Lanka team, three players and four support staff of the England team tested positive for Covid-19.

The three Sri Lankan players violated their biosecurity bubble before the start of the one-day international series in Durham, and they were recalled and faced disciplinary action.

Earlier this week, the English cricket team was forced to choose a new player after seven members of the English cricket team tested positive for the coronavirus.

Three players and four behind-the-scenes staff tested positive for the virus. The team is now led by Ben Stokes because most players are under quarantine.

England captain Eoin Morgan said earlier that it is too early to consider Stokes as a member of XI. Due to a finger injury, the all-around player has been excluded in the past few weeks.

European Central Bank CEO Tom Harrison once said: “We are ready for this moment and realize that the emergence of Delta variants and the shift in our strict enforcement of the biosafety environment may increase the possibility of an outbreak. .”
