Sindh will lift the coronavirus lockdown on August 9th: NCOC

The National Command and Operations Center announced on Saturday that the Sindh provincial government will end the nine-day coronavirus lockdown on August 9, as it praised the province’s efforts to contain the pandemic.

NCOC issued a statement after a joint meeting chaired by Federal Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar. Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister’s Health Dr. Faisal Sultan, General Hammoud attended the meeting and came from NCOC Other team members.

The statement stated that the coronavirus situation in Sindh, especially Karachi, “has been discussed in detail.”

It emphasized the need for “better coordination” and “strengthening interaction at all levels.”

It was decided that Sindh will follow the non-pharmaceutical intervention (NPI)-based guidelines announced by the forum earlier this week for 13 cities with high infection rates, including Karachi and Hyderabad.

The issue of the reopening of schools in Sindh and the remaining examinations will be discussed at the upcoming Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Meeting (IPEMC).

The Forum also recognized that in view of the Muharram Festival and the lifting of the blockade on August 9, it is necessary to put special emphasis on the implementation of safety precautions.

It was decided to implement a “smart blockade” in areas with a high incidence of diseases to curb the spread of the virus.
