Islamabad: Federal Minister of Science and Technology Shibli Faraz announced on Tuesday that in order to strengthen the country’s electoral system, the government will announce an electronic voting machine (EVM) within the next 8 to 10 days.

In a casual conversation with reporters in the federal capital, the minister said: “This machine will be provided to opposition parties and relevant stakeholders. […] It can be tested anywhere. “

The Federal Minister provided detailed information, stating that the machine will be user-friendly and capable of running for two days after being charged.

“There is no chance of wasting votes through the EVM,” he said.

The Minister of Science stated that the cost of each EVM is about 65,000 to 80,000 rupees, and it can also operate at extreme temperatures (55°C to -10°C).

The National University of Science and Technology and COMSATS Islamabad University are one of three institutions dedicated to EVMS.

“There will be paper ballots and electronic voting records […] The paper used for paper ballots can be used for a total of five years,” he said.

He said that in the next few days, we will be able to manufacture 2,000 machines per day, adding that the government is working hard to make waterproof machines.

The minister stated that the government will test the EVM in the by-election, and the general election will require a total of 400,000 machines.

The Minister of Science said that he did not know much about ventilators before, but after listening to the relevant introduction, he learned that the locally developed ventilators did not meet international standards.

Talking about the government’s plan, he said that 500,000 young people will be familiarized with the use of modern technology-once they are familiar, the government will help them find jobs abroad.

“The only EVM solution for transparent elections”

A day ago, Shibli stated that EVM is the only solution for free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

In an interview with a private news channel, he said that the current government has been inviting opposition parties to make suggestions and suggestions on electoral reforms to ensure the transparency of the electoral process.

The Minister stated that both PPP and PML-N showed a non-serious attitude towards electoral reforms and urged them to play a constructive role by solving issues of national importance in the parliament.

He called the parliament the best forum to formulate legislation or solve public issues, adding that the government is committed to giving overseas Pakistanis the right to vote.
