Federal Minister of the Interior Sheikh Rashid announced on Thursday that Punjab police are about to arrest the man behind the bombing in Jowhar town in Lahore.

On Wednesday, a vehicle containing explosives exploded in the town of Jowhar, killing 3 people and injuring more than 20 others.

“Punjab police achieved extraordinary success in the bombing of Jowhar town [investigation],” Rasheed announced in a video message.

“We are very close to them [perpetrators] The Punjab police will soon tell the country the good news of their arrest,” he added.

The minister vowed that Pakistan’s enemies have been frustrated as the country successfully defeated the coronavirus pandemic and brought political and economic stability to the country.

“Those who want to spread anarchy and chaos in Pakistan and want to put Pakistan under pressure, [should know] Pakistan will never succumb to pressure,” he added.

Preliminary report submitted to IGP

The source told Geographic News on Wednesday that a preliminary report of the investigation by the investigating agency has been submitted to Punjab Inam Ghani, the inspector general of Punjab.

The source added that the report will soon be submitted to Punjab Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister of Punjab.

According to the initial report, more than 30 kilograms of explosives were used in the explosion, adding that “foreign-made materials” were used.

The items used in the bomb included ball bearings, nails and other explosives.

The initial report stated that the material had been implanted in a car and the device was detonated remotely.

The report also stated that a 3-foot-deep and 8-foot-wide crater was formed at the explosion site.

The explosion caused damage within a hundred feet of a radius.

Is Hafiz Saeed the target?

IGP Ghani speculated that the police had become the target of the attack. Soon after the explosion, in an interview with the media, he advised people to ignore rumors related to the explosion.

IGP told the media that CTD is investigating the incident and will share detailed reports on the nature of the explosion and the materials used.

“We are not sure what caused the explosion or whether it was an implanted device [that caused the explosion], Or suicide bombing,” he said at the time.

In response to the question of whether Hafiz Saeed, the leader of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), was the target, Ghani said: “There is a police picket near the high-value target’s house, which is why it is impossible for vehicles to approach. The house.” According to Geographic News, this is why he thinks the police are the target.

He did not provide any further information on high-value targets.

“You should thank the police,” he said.

Ghani vowed to arrest the terrorists behind the scenes.
