Sanjal Gavande, the daughter of a municipal company employee and a retired MTNL official, chose aerospace as the subject of her master’s degree and passed it with top grades.

“She has always wanted to build a spacecraft, which is why she chose aerospace as a subject when she was studying for a master’s degree at Michigan Technological University,” her father Ashok Gavande, who lives in the Kolsewadi area of ​​Kalyan, told India Today.

After completing his master’s degree in Wisconsin, Sanjal Gavande worked in Mercury Marine, the marine engine division of Brunswick. After working at Mercury Marine for three years as a design analysis intern and design analysis engineer, she joined Toyota Racing Development as a mechanical design engineer.

Sanjal Gavande, who holds a commercial pilot license, applied for a space engineering job with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa), but was not selected due to citizenship issues.

“People tell us that she is a girl, why did she choose mechanical engineering? I also wonder from time to time whether she can do such a hard job. She makes us all proud now. She has a dream of designing a space rocket, and she has realized it. Now,” her mother Sureka told India Today.

“We just supported her, she got everything on her own,” her father said.

Since April of this year, she has been working as a system engineer at Blue Origin in Seattle. She is also the part-time public relations chairman and chairman of the board of directors of the non-profit educational organization “Nine Nine”.
