Qureshi again avoids calling OBL a terrorist

On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi once again avoided calling the former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden a terrorist.

“Osama bin Laden has become the past. I don’t care about the past. You are lost in the past. I care about the future,” he told the show host Hanzada.

Khanzada explained that he asked for clarification because Pakistan had said in the past that it had “a dual policy of sympathy with terrorists” and therefore paid the price for chaos.

“I hope to take you out of the past,” Qureshi responded. “My friend, I want you to get rid of the past. I tell you that you have to think about the future. That will affect Pakistan and its economic and social future. We know this very well. We are against terrorism,” the Foreign Minister said.

He went on to say that the prime minister’s inspiration came from the country’s founder Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Qureshi was also asked why Pakistan would make a confusing statement, which may once again haunt us in the context of the US Secretary of Defense’s remarks that ISIS or Al Qaeda will use Afghan territory to fight the United States two years later.
