Punjab states that all schools must use naazrah Quran

A notice on Thursday stated that the Punjab Provincial Government has decided to implement compulsory education for Naazrah Quran in grades 1-5 in schools across the province.
The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) stated in its notice that the 2018 Punjab Quran Act mandatory teaching requires Muslim students in all educational institutions (public and private sectors) to learn the Quran as a religious school.
The notice stated: “The Quran (Amendment) Law of Punjab Province of 2021 compulsory teaching of the Quran as a separate compulsory subject for Muslim students in all educational institutions in Punjab.
In view of this, the PTCB revised the study plan at its 83rd board meeting and included the “Naazrah Quran” subject as a separate compulsory subject in the fourth grade.

In the first step, all educational institutions in Punjab should teach Naazrah Quran as a separate compulsory subject to fourth grade during the upcoming 2021-22 school year.
The notice stated that at the same time, the PCTB has initiated appropriate procedures to make “Teaching of the Quran” a separate compulsory subject for all grades (I-XII) and will communicate it as soon as possible.
