The Punjab Provincial Government announced that with the increase in COVID-19 cases in the country, the province will comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) weeks to raise awareness of the coronavirus.

Sarah Aslam, Minister of Primary and Secondary Health Care of Punjab Province, announced that the province will hold an awareness week from July 9th to 18th. She added that a letter has been sent to all district commissioners and district police on the matter.

At the same time, Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid stated that a provincial monitoring room has been established under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior.

“It is very important to take preventive measures even after vaccination. The main purpose of the Awareness Week is to stop the spread of the virus during Eid,” Rashid said.

On the other hand, Aslam said that vaccination is the only solution to prevent the spread of the Delta (India) variant. She said the government has established standard operating procedures for hotels, restaurants, wedding halls, gyms and cinemas.

The secretary said that all these business units are required to ensure that their employees are vaccinated. She added that once they are vaccinated, the government will declare the area a vaccination area.

The secretary said: “A counter will be set up at the entry point to verify the vaccination certificate.” She added that the inspector will check the proof of everyone coming to these areas.

The secretary also stated that the government will allow the restaurant to be open until 12 o’clock in the morning.

For movie theaters, the government has instructed staff to check vaccination certificates before and at the end of the screening.
