
Punjab announces cash rewards for Olympians Arshad Nadeem and Talha Talib

Lahore: The Punjab government announced on Tuesday that it will provide javelin athlete Arshad Nadeem, weightlifter Talha Talib and mountaineer Shehroz Kashmir with cash rewards worth 1 million rupees each, as their recent outstanding performance has put Pakistan among the best.
Rai Taimur Khan Bhatti, Minister of Sports of Punjab Province, announced the news at a press conference. He said that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar (Sardar Usman Buzdar) will award cash prizes to all three athletes.
“Arshad Nadeem is the first Pakistani track and field athlete to directly qualify [for Olympics]”, Rai Taimur Khan Bhatti said, adding, “Arshad Nadeem and Talha Talib both made Pakistan famous all over the world. “
The Minister of Sports said that he will meet Arshad Nadim at the airport.
He said that Olympians Arshad Nadeem and Talha Talib will each receive a prize of Rs 1 million, adding that Arshad Nadeem’s coach Fayyaz Bukhari will also receive a prize of Rs 500,000.
Rai Taimur Bhatti said that the Punjab Provincial Government also supports Haider Ali and Anila Baig who are eligible to participate in the Paralympics. He added that the provincial government will bear all expenses for the Paralympic athletes.
Arshad Nadeem is the first Pakistani athlete ever to qualify for the Olympic track and field finals. He finished fifth in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympic Javelin Final.
Nadim’s ranking once soared to fourth in the standings, but was soon surpassed by rival athletes. In the final round of the game, Nadim shot 8,198 meters in the first round and 8,198 meters in the second round. But his last pitch was declared a foul, putting him in fifth place.
Weightlifter Talha Talib (Talha Talib) also won praise from all sides, participating in the 67 kg men’s weightlifting competition in the Tokyo Olympics.
After returning home, he was welcomed like a hero at the airport.
Talja was surpassed by athletes from China, Colombia and Italy in the final attempt. After lifting 150 kg in the snatch, Talha fell when attempting 166 kg in the first clean and jerk attempt. He lifted 170 kg in his last attempt to lift a total weight of 320 kg.
