PTI’s Jahangir Tareen team expressed dissatisfaction with Chohan’s arrest

• The JKT organization referred to the arrest as a “action based on retaliation.”

Lahore: Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Jahangir Khan Tareen’s (JKT) group expressed dissatisfaction with the FBI’s arrest of Punjab parliament member Nazeer Chohan on Wednesday.

A JKT spokesperson issued a statement saying that group members will not be deterred or succumbed by retaliation. Instead, they will do their best to counter actions aimed at revenge, it added.

“A person in Islamabad is using these institutions for personal gain, but we will not let anyone realize their malicious intentions,” said a spokesperson representing JKT.

He announced that PTI members supporting the JKT organization will soon record a protest against Chohan’s arrest on the floor of the Punjab parliament.

The spokesperson said that Tallinn is currently visiting Sindh, so the organization will hold a meeting immediately after he returns to Lahore, adding that Tallinn is expected to arrive in Lahore on Friday.

However, despite criticism of the arrest by the JKT group, no group members were seen outside Kot Lakhpat prison.

Chohan’s son was outside the detention center and expressed disappointment at the absence of Chohan’s supporters and said that JKT team members should visit the prison to show their support, but they did not.

Consecutive arrests within two days

Chohan’s was arrested for the second time in two days because he was arrested earlier on Tuesday and appeared in court in Lahore.

According to the police, Chohan was initially arrested for commenting on Akbar on a private TV channel program and will be transferred to the FBI’s Cybercrime Office. The most recent arrest was a separate complaint filed against Chohan because of Akbar’s comments on Chohan’s religious beliefs.

The court has ordered the release of Chohan on Tuesday because he sought bail after being arrested in the Johar town area of ​​the city, which was made at the request of Mirza Shahzad Akbar, the Prime Minister’s adviser to the interior and accountability system.

Chohan expressed support for PTI member Jahangir Tareen and worried that he would be politically harmed by state institutions. Akbar said that he made the “baseless, false and unreasonable allegations” that would “put his life in danger”.

In the process of investigating the country’s sugar scams that led to commodity shortages and price increases, Akbar has been named by Tareen’s supporters as one of the behind-the-scenes “targeting” of PTI leaders.

FIR for Chohan

The first information report (FIR) registered on May 29 stated that, given Akbar’s work to “ensure accountability,” such allegations have been settled.

FIR wrote: “The above-mentioned crimes have caused damage to the applicant’s reputation, body, property and spirit, and caused public hatred against the applicant in public, thereby endangering the applicant’s life.”

It added: “Furthermore, because the applicant was dissatisfied with the measures taken to curb corruption in Pakistan, the defendant’s motive was only to discourage the undersigned from playing an active role in curbing corruption and ensuring Pakistan’s accountability.”

Akbar’s complaint was filed after Chohan allegedly made a statement on television, and fragments of the statement went viral on social media.

Earlier this month, the second FIR made similar allegations against Chohan.

The Prime Minister’s aides quoted the video to warn of social unrest and demanded urgent legal action against Chohan, saying that he had “committed heinous crimes”.
