PTI leader injured, wife opened fire near Basti, Afghanistan

A woman was killed. Her husband, the local Pakistan Justice Movement (PTI) leader, was wounded in a shooting incident inside the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station on Thursday.

Police said the couple were shot and killed by an unidentified person near Basti, Afghanistan, while they were driving. As a result, Toor Khan’s son Essa Khan, 40, and his wife Bakhtawar Bibi, 37, were injured.

The injured man continued to drive the car and arrived at a private hospital in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Police said the man was shot in the leg and shoulder and his wife was shot once in the head. She put on a ventilator in the hospital, but could not survive. The man has received medical treatment and his condition is reported to be out of danger.

According to the police, Essa is the chairman of the PTI Manghopir branch. Many PTI leaders including Raja Azhar, a member of the Sindh Provincial Assembly, also visited the hospital. According to the police, the couple was shot dead when they returned to their home in Basti, Afghanistan with their young son after going to a doctor.

The gunman was riding two motorcycles, armed with Kalashnikov and pistols. The police suspect that this incident may be caused by personal grievances. They said that they could not find any empty shells at the crime scene. Further investigation is ongoing.
