Islamabad: According to sources quoted by Geographic News, the Pakistan Justice Movement (PTI) may finalize its candidate for the Prime Minister’s Office of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday (today).

Sources told Geographic News that the PTI co-chaired by the Federal Minister of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Ali Amin Gandapur, former Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sultan Mohammed Chowdhury The parliamentary party meeting will finalize the candidate for prime minister today.

The source added that the PTI parliamentary group has appointed Chaudhary Anwarul Haq as the spokesperson for AJK.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly meeting will start at 10:00 this morning. The newly elected members will be sworn in after which the speaker of the assembly and the deputy speaker will be elected.

The new speaker and deputy speaker will also be sworn in today.

PM Imran Khan interviews AJK prime minister candidate

Earlier on July 30, Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken interviews of the elected members of the Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly for the prized post of prime minister.

Barristers Sultan Mahmood, Khawaja Farooq, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan and Azhar Sadiq met with PM Imran.

According to sources, the prime minister asked the candidates about their vision for tourism, hydropower, minerals, health, education and development.

PTI becomes the largest political party in the AJK Legislative Assembly

Following the recent elections held in the territory on July 25, PTI became the largest political party in the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The party will therefore form a government in the region.

According to the detailed information, PTI managed to secure a total of 32 seats (including reserved seats), while PPP won 12 seats, and PML-N has managed to secure 7 seats in AJKLA.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Electoral Commission announced on Sunday that PTI had won three female reserved seats, bringing its total number of seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly to 29.

PPP and PML-N can each occupy a female reserved seat.
