Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated on Monday that Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan because the instability of this war-torn country will have an impact on the region.

The Prime Minister clarified why the country should accelerate the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and remove the obstacles related to it. He said that the goal of Chinese exporters is to build industries that will help Pakistan increase exports.

Focus on increasing exports

“Unfortunately, we have never focused on exports, which will help bring in dollars,” he said, adding that Pakistan has been at the mercy of the International Monetary Fund as an export-led growth.

PM Imran Khan unveiled the Gwadar Free Zone, Expo Center, Agricultural Industrial Park and three factories; he also witnessed the signing of various memorandums of understanding aimed at building first-class hospitals, airports and vocational colleges.

The Prime Minister thanked the Chinese government for its water and solar projects in Balochistan, especially Gwadar.

He said: “Pakistan can benefit from its strategic location and the expertise of its friend China. China is becoming an economic power in the region.”

He also mentioned the technical education provided by China to the locals in Gwadar, which he said will be of great benefit as foreign investment grows.

“Gwadar will connect Central Asia […] We have signed contracts with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan,” he said while announcing that he will visit Uzbekistan soon.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Urdu and praised Chief Minister Jam Kamal’s “excellent speech”, but lamented that if he gave a speech in Urdu, 90% of the people could have done better Understand it.
