Lahore: The Lahore Conference Court has approved PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and Vice President Hamza Shahbaz on temporary bail in the sugar scandal case until July 10.
Shahbaz and Hamza were summoned by the FIA tomorrow to investigate the sugar scandal.
The PML-N President and Vice President and their lawyers arrived at the conference court in Lahore on Monday to obtain interim bail. A large number of PML-N staff also appeared outside the conference court.
In the petition filed through Advocate Amjad Pervez, the FIA and other agencies have become the respondent. The petition states that the FIA has registered a baseless allegation of money laundering.
The petitioner stated that the FIA had issued a subpoena to investigate the case on June 22, and the NAB had submitted a reference to the allegations of money laundering. “After the NAB failed, the FIA started an unfounded investigation,” the petition argued.
Petitioner Shahbaz requested temporary bail in the FIA case.
The court approved the bail request and granted temporary bail until July 10.
