Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) youth wing leader of Faisalabad chapter Abdul Majid Muaz on Saturday resigned from his post allegedly for speaking against the security institutions on directives of the party’s leadership and then being made a scapegoat for the same.

Addressing a presser, Muaz claimed he had criticised the head of a sensitive institution and had raised slogans against him in the Dhobi Ghat public gathering "on the directives of Captain (retd) Safdar", PML-N leader and husband of party supremo Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz.

“Whatever I said was at the behest of Capt Safdar," the youth wing leader said, adding that he was appreciated by the former following the fiery speech.

Muaz further said that PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif later termed his remarks his personal viewpoint, prompting him to step down from his post.

The youth leader also advised other workers of the party to "dissociate themselves from [party] leaders who use them for their gains and later leave them alone in difficult times."

He also apologised for his statement against the "sensitive institution".

In April this year, PML-N leader Javed Latif was arrested in an anti-state rhetoric case, according to which he was accused of "making remarks against the state, its institutions and their integrity, spreading chaos and panic among the people."
