PM Imran vows PTI will win Punjab LG elections

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday vowed that his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will emerge victorious in forthcoming local government elections in Punjab, directing party's ranks to prepare for the crucial battle with political opponents.
While chairing a meeting of PTI parliamentarians in Lahore today, the prime minister said that the decisions of awarding party tickets for the polls will be made through due consultation and consensus.
During the meeting, several party lawmakers raised concerns on delimitations, to which the premier asked them to submit the same with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) within due time.
He further stated that the entire party and lawmakers will work jointly to win the elections.

Minister for Local Government Punjab Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed also called on the premier and briefed him about election preparations.
The PM directed Rasheed to expedite public contact campaigns at the grass-roots to ensure success in the polls.

The prime minister also chaired a meeting of assembly members from the Dera Ghazi Khan division in which upcoming local government elections and on-ground situation in the region was discussed in detail.
Moreover, during a meeting with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the premier directed the government to take all necessary steps to provide prompt and efficient services to the common man.

He stressed on taking stern action against miscreants, hoarders and occupation mafia to protect the lives, property and interests of the people.

The chief secretary and the inspector-general police were also present in the meeting, wherein issues related to civil administration and law and order in Punjab were discussed, besides a briefing on the progress of development projects.
Earlier today, the ECP announced a revised schedule for the local government elections in Punjab and said that the first phase of polls will now be held on May 29.
In the first phase, the election activity will be carried out in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Layyah, Vehari, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Sialkot, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahuddin, Jhelum and Attock.
