  • Prime Minister Imran vowed to continue to raise his voice in support of the Kashmiris.
  • According to unofficial results, PTI won 25 of the 45 seats.
  • The prime minister said his goal is to lift people out of poverty.

On Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked Azad Jammu and the people of Kashmir for their trust in PTI during the Legislative Assembly elections on July 25. His party became the winner.

PTI has become the largest political party in the AJK legislative assembly elections, and therefore will form a government in the region.

According to the unofficial results of the AJK Election Committee so far, PTI won 25 of the 45 seats, PPP won 11 seats, and PML-N won 6 seats.

According to Muhammad Ghazanfar Khan, secretary of the AJK Election Committee, the unofficial result applies to all electoral districts, but LA-16 Bagh has been rejected.

Khan said that votes were lost in a clash between two polling stations in the electoral district. He said that due to disputes, it was not possible to vote at the other two polling stations.

The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party (JKPP) and the All-Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (AJKMC) also won a seat each.

After PTI was announced as the winner of most seats, celebrations broke out across Kashmir.

“We will focus on lifting people out of poverty through our Ehsaas and Kamyab Pakistan programs; establishing accountability and transparency in the government,” the prime minister said in a tweet.

The Prime Minister also congratulated all successful candidates of PTI.

He added: “As the Kashmir ambassador, I will continue to speak out in all international forums, including the United Nations, to ensure that the international community fulfills its commitment to the self-determination of the Kashmir people through the referendum initiated by the United Nations.

During the voting on Sunday, two PTI workers were killed in clashes. According to Reuters, police officials said that supporters of the BJP and the ruling PTI clashed in an electoral district, resulting in two deaths.

The violence has disrupted Prime Minister Khan’s latest election test, and since he won the 2018 general election for his ability to handle the economy and fulfill his election promises, he has faced increasing criticism.

Who is the winner?

Barristers Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, Khawaja Ahmed Farooq, Sardar Tanvir Ilyas, Diwan Khan Chughtai, Chaudhry Arshad and Ch Anwar-ul-Haq won their seats.

PML-N candidates Raja Farooq Haider and Shah Ghulam Qadir also retained their seats.

Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, former prime minister of AJK and head of AJKMC, has been declared a success on LA-14 Bagh.

Muhammad Ghazanfar Khan, secretary of the AJK Election Committee, stated that voting was conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.

He expressed satisfaction with the security situation and praised the police and the Pakistani army for their performance in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the elections.
