On Friday, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan posted on Instagram the wedding anniversary of his cousin, Jamshed Burki.

Khan shared a retro photo on his Instagram with the caption “The Wedding of My Cousin Jamshaid Burki in 1962”.

Burki is the cousin next to PM’s mother. PM Khan’s mother, Shaukat Khanum Burki, belongs to the Burki Pashtun tribe who settled in Jalandhar, Punjab.

This tribe on the maternal side of Imran Khan has produced several great cricket players in Pakistan’s history, including his cousins ​​Javid Burki and Majid Khan.

Imran Khan’s aunt [Khala]Iqbal Bano is married to General Wajid Ali Khan Burki, a senior officer and doctor in the Pakistani army. Wajid and Iqbal Bano have three sons-Javed Burki, Jamshed Burki and Nausherwan Burki.

Jamshed Burki joined the civil service as a captain after retiring from the Pakistani army. He served as a political agent in the Khyber agency of the former Northwest Frontier Province. Later, he served as Minister of the Interior in the then Northwestern Territory.

As Minister of the Interior, Jamshed also oversaw Karachi’s “clean-up operations.”

His brother Dr. Nausherwan Khan Burki is a founding member of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center. He is also one of the most important founding members of PTI.
