Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected the US request to establish a military base for future operations in Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister’s statement was made during an interview with Jonathan Swan of HBO Axios, which will be broadcast at 3:00 AM Pacific Standard Time on Monday.
Prime Minister Imran reiterated Pakistan’s position on the use of military bases and made it clear that Islamabad would not allow it.
The American reporter asked about the Prime Minister’s comments on allowing the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to enter Pakistan’s military bases, which was allowed during the Pervez Musharraf administration.
“Will you allow the US government to let the CIA conduct cross-border counter-terrorism missions against Al Qaeda, the Islamic State and the Taliban in Pakistan?” Swan asked the prime minister.
“Absolutely not,” Prime Minister Imran Khan responded.
“We will never allow any base or any form of operation to enter Afghanistan from Pakistani territory. Absolutely not.”
The United States is cooperating with Pakistan and other regional countries on future operations in this war-torn country to control belligerence.
However, the country has indicated to Washington that this is impossible.
