Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that for Pakistan, food security has become a national security issue.

In his speech at the National Kisang Conference in Islamabad, Prime Minister Imran said that Pakistan’s “biggest challenge” in the future will be food security.

To explain the exact nature of the problem, he explained to the audience that Pakistan had to import 4 million tons of wheat last year alone to make up for the shortage.

“In a country that already lacks U.S. dollars, the price for this is foreign exchange,” said Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He added that it is unsustainable for this country to continue like this.

“The rate of our population growth [we need to ask] In the next 10 or 15 years, how will we create food for our population? “The Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister stated that it is necessary to raise awareness of food security, and Pakistan should begin to take measures to solve this problem today.

“If we want to save our country from future challenges [we need to see that] Food security in reality [has become] National security,” Prime Minister Imran Khan said.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan does not accept Israel because of its atrocities against Palestine, but acknowledged how it uses technologically advanced methods to make barren land useful for agriculture.

“They couldn’t figure it out and came up with a solution, even the desert can become fertile land.”

In order to further highlight Pakistan’s food security issues, the Prime Minister stated that the country’s situation is so severe that its children are stunted at birth.

“Nearly 40% of babies in our country are stunted because of their incomplete diet. This is a very dangerous number,” the prime minister said.

The Prime Minister stated that in order to solve this problem, the government is launching a nutrition plan based on the Ehsaas plan.

The focus of the plan is to ensure that the diet of children before the age of three is complete so that they will not be stunted.

The Prime Minister said that if they are still stunted, then the children will “be behind in the race of life because their brain and body will not be able to develop”.

PM Imran Khan further stated that children in the country did not get proper milk because it was “contaminated”.

“[Just] Think about it, our children don’t get pure milk. This is the most basic need for them to grow up,” Prime Minister Imran Khan said. He also said that when the government further investigated the problem, it was found that Pakistan’s dairy cows produced less milk than other countries. Of cows.

The Prime Minister said that the government subsequently realized that this was because the country had never committed to improving the genetics of its cows. He added that it was all because of “elite capture.”

He further elaborated that a small part of the society “occupied” the country when it was created.

He said the leaders we got were not committed to inclusiveness.

The Prime Minister said that when Pakistan was established, the country’s agricultural sector faced the same problem. He added that most farmers in Pakistan are small landowners and they have not been helped.

He also shared an example of China, saying that in the past 35 years, it has helped farmers help people out of poverty.

“China also has small landowners who help small farmers because the villages are very poor,” Prime Minister Imran said. He lamented that Pakistan did not do the same thing 74 years ago.

Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated that if Pakistan continues its current development trajectory, food security “will become national insecurity”. He said that if 30% to 40% of people are allowed to go hungry, then “they will bring down the whole country”.

The Prime Minister said: “A country that cannot meet the dietary requirements of its people should be punished.

The Prime Minister said that the measures taken by the government today are to make Pakistan a food exporter rather than a food insecure country.
