Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan called on the public on Thursday to comply with COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), especially on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, to curb the further spread of the new coronavirus.

In a speech to the nation, the Prime Minister said that given the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the country, everyone must wear a mask.

“Even though I know people are tired of SOPs all over the world and I understand this, I still want to appeal to the masses again [at least] Always wear a mask so that the country can be protected from a possible fourth wave of pandemics,” he said.

“Wearing a mask is a very easy job. This simple step can save the country and our economy from disaster.”

The Prime Minister explained that as long as people are in confined spaces with other people (including wedding events, restaurants and rooms), they should always wear masks because the possibility of the virus spreading in the indoor environment is very high.

The Prime Minister explained: “If someone is outdoors, such as in a park, they can take off their masks, but when they are in a bus or car with other people, they must wear a mask.” Holding a mask in his hand.

PM Imran Khan warned the nation of the dangers of the delta variant-it first appeared in India-and said that India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Indonesia are currently suffering from it.

“In view of the current severe oxygen shortage in Afghanistan and other countries, I would like to say a few words to the whole country,” the prime minister said.

He praised the government, especially the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) for conducting research and making timely decisions to curb the spread of the virus.

The Prime Minister further stated that Pakistan is the only Muslim country to keep mosques open for two consecutive Ramadan due to NCOC’s efforts, monitoring and pre-emptive measures, and the country’s cooperative attitude.

“It is precisely because of the cooperation of the Pakistani nation that the government can save this country from falling into a catastrophic situation. [like other countries],” the Prime Minister said.

However, currently, due to the Delta variant entering the country, the country’s coronavirus cases have suddenly risen again after the plunge, he said.

PM Khan said that poverty has spread all over the world, and the poor have to suffer because of the lockdown.

“Therefore, I will require Pakistanis to wear masks compulsorily and take preventive measures, especially during Eid al-Fitr,” he said.

He said: “The government has put a lot of pressure on people to comply with the SOP. I appreciate the country’s tolerance for us, but if you want to avoid further blockades and restrictions, then continue to wear masks.”

Towards the end of the speech, the prime minister also urged people to get vaccinated. He added that even if Pakistan does not produce its own anti-coronavirus vaccine and the rate of vaccination is not as fast as in the United States, people should take advantage of the country’s existing vaccines and vaccinate. as soon as possible.
