Rawalpindi: General Kamal Javed Bajwa, Chief of Staff of the Army, had a conversation with the ambassadors of Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and France today to discuss regional security issues.
According to an inter-service public relations (ISPR) statement, German Ambassador Bernhard Stephan Schlagheck, Italian Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese, Dutch Ambassador Willem Wouter Plomp and French Acting Ambassador Yves Manville met with COAS at the headquarters.
During the meeting, issues of common concern, regional security-including the latest situation in Afghanistan-and bilateral cooperation with the European Union (EU) were discussed.
Regarding the development of the situation in Afghanistan, COAS emphasized that peace in Afghanistan is peace in Pakistan.
The Chief of Staff of the Army added that Pakistan has no favoritism in the ongoing conflict and Pakistan’s only wish is to “help achieve peace and stability in Afghanistan.”
General Bajwa added that Pakistan attaches importance to its relations with EU countries and sincerely looks forward to strengthening mutual benefit and win-win multi-sector relations on the basis of common interests.
The visiting ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s role in maintaining regional stability and promised to play its role in further cooperation with Pakistan.
