Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed satisfaction with the safety protocol established by the English Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday as seven members of the England team tested positive for the coronavirus.
The English cricket team was shocked by the news that three players and four support staff tested positive for infection.
England must now choose a new team and the all-around player Ben Stokes has been appointed captain.
The committee said in a statement: “Since the news of the Covid-19 outbreak in the England camp, the Pakistan Cricket Committee has been in close contact with the England and Wales Cricket Committee regarding concerns about the health and safety of its players.”
“The guarantees and guarantees provided by the European Central Bank on behalf of its medical team satisfy the PCB,” PCB said.
The Cricket Committee stated that it is “satisfied with the existing agreement to ensure the safety of all Pakistani players and player support personnel”.
PCB stated that it has been in contact with the team’s management and advised them to “be extra careful” in hotels and venues.
England will face Pakistan in the first ODI match in Cardiff on Thursday, July 8.
England captain Eoin Morgan said earlier that it is too early to consider Stokes as a member of XI. Due to a finger injury, the all-around player has been excluded in the past few weeks.
The remaining members of the new team facing Pakistan will be named later on Tuesday.
European Central Bank Chief Executive Tom Harrison said: “We are ready for this moment and realize that the emergence of Delta variants and our extrication from strict enforcement of the biosafety environment may increase the possibility of an outbreak.”
“We made a strategic choice to try to adjust the agreement to support the overall well-being of our players and management, who lived in very limited conditions for most of the 14 months.
“Overnight, we quickly identified a new team, we thank Ben Stokes, he will return to England as captain.
