Pakistan’s Shah Hussein was eliminated from the Tokyo Olympics

Karachi: On Thursday (today), in the -100kg judo competition at the Tokyo Olympics in the Japanese capital, Pakistani judo player Hussein Shah lost the match against Darwish in Egypt during Ramadan.

Egypt’s Darwish Ramadan, ranked 13th in the world, defeated Shah Hussain Shah and qualified for the next round. The Pakistani judo player ended his Olympic journey after losing his first match with Darwish today.

This is his second time participating in the Olympics-Shah made his debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics, when he was eliminated by Ukraine’s Artem Brosenko in the second round.

It is worth mentioning here that Shah missed some major events before the Olympics due to travel problems caused by COVID-19.

Before Shah Hussain, Mahor Shahzad Haseeb Tariq was eliminated from the Tokyo Olympics. Shazad represented Pakistan in the badminton competition, while Tariq represented Pakistan in the swimming competition.

Earlier Wednesday, Shah told news From Tokyo on Wednesday, “Yes, because the tournament is tough, the pressure will be there.”

“You know we have to deal with the pressure, and I will go all out,” Shah said.

A few days ago, Shah’s close friend and training partner of Japan’s Takanori Nagase won the gold medal in the -81kg competition.

Takanori and Shah are also studying together at the University of Tsukuba. When Shah was asked what his father Hussein Shah told him when he called him for the last time on Wednesday, Shah said he told him that he has worked hard and should go all out in the game.

Hussein hopes his son will perform well in the Olympics. “I have high hopes for my son. He works very hard, this time very seriously,” Hussein told news.

“If he can maintain his composure and make good use of his skills, then I believe he will win. I hope there will be a successful day tomorrow. The 1988 Seoul Olympic boxing bronze medalist Hussein said that if he can be on the winning podium, That will be a dream come true.

Col Junaid, chairman of the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF), told our reporter that Shah’s draw was difficult, but he has the ability to perform well.

“There is no doubt that because he did not participate in the pre-Olympic events, his draw was very difficult. This gave him no chance to improve his ranking, but he has experience and has been working hard for the past five years. I hope he I can do better this time,” Junaid said.
