Tokyo: Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem has qualified for the Tokyo Olympic finals. Geographic News Reported on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old athlete cast 86.29 million meters at the South Asian Games in Kathmandu. He is the first track and field athlete in Pakistan to directly qualify for the Olympic Games.

Arshad is considered to be one of the best javelin throwers in South Asia, tied with the world’s third-ranked Zheng Zhaojun and the world’s fifth-ranked Anderson Peters.

Arshad’s current world ranking is 23. However, his best result of the season is also his personal best-86.38 pitching-one of the ten best pitches of the season. The throw that won a medal in Iran in April of this year placed him 7th among the best throwers of the season.

A total of 32 contestants were divided into two groups, each with 16 participants. According to the eligibility criteria, athletes with a throw distance of at least 83.50m or at least 12 athletes with the best performance will advance to the final.
