Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi said on Wednesday that the investigation into the alleged kidnapping of the Afghan ambassador was close to completion a few days after Afghanistan withdrew its senior diplomats from Islamabad.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs said at a press conference after the prayers for Eid al-Adha in Multan that the flight information region was activated on the instructions of the ambassador’s daughter.

FM Qureshi said that all the taxi drivers’ statements were recorded and the ambassador’s daughter had used their services.

The foreign minister stated that he reviewed 700 hours of CCTV footage and interrogated 250 people, but he said that the cooperation of the Afghan ambassador and his daughter is needed to end the investigation.

He said that once the investigation is over, the report will be shared with the Afghan government.

Qureshi said that Pakistan hopes that Afghanistan will achieve peace and stability, and the entire Afghan leaders should work together to achieve sustainable peace in the country.

“The Afghan peace process has entered a critical stage,” he said, adding: “India has played the role of a disruptor in this process.”

The foreign minister emphasized that the BJP government not only targeted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s numbers, but also targeted Indian ministers and opposition lawmakers through the spyware Pegasus of the Israeli National Bureau of Statistics.

“However, India faces failure in every forum,” he said.

The foreign minister said that India had committed atrocities and human rights violations in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir region and urged the world to pay attention.

Qureshi said that the United States recognizes Pakistan’s role in combating terrorism, the Afghanistan peace process, and implementing the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force.
