“We all believe that there is no military solution to the conflict in Afghanistan, and we all want to see peace in Afghanistan,” he pointed out.

Troika plus conference discussion to speed up internal dialogue in Afghanistan

The expanded troika meeting including envoys from Pakistan, the United States, China and Russia was held in Doha yesterday (August 11).

He said that the members of the “Expanded Troika” discussed the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan, and explored ways to speed up Afghanistan’s internal peace talks to achieve an inclusive political settlement and end the four decades of conflict in Afghanistan.

The delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan headed by Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and the Taliban delegation headed by Mullah Bradar also interacted with the troika. The expanded troika country discussed the following points:

• Urgent measures are needed to reduce the violence that led to the ceasefire.

• There is no military solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.

• The Afghan parties should give priority to putting forward a peace plan in order to make progress on the political road map.

• All parties need to respect human rights and do not indulge in human rights violations.

Pakistan values the role of the “troika” in bringing lasting peace and stability to Afghanistan, and will continue to participate in this platform and work together to speed up the peace process.

Pakistan is only seen by the US as helping to clean up Afghanistan’s “chaos”: PM Imran Khan

The Foreign Ministry’s statement was issued the day after the prime minister’s tough statement, stating that Washington believed that Pakistan would only help clean up the “chaos” in Afghanistan.

Washington has been urging Pakistan to use what they believe is Islamabad’s influence over the Taliban to facilitate an elusive peace agreement, because negotiations between the organization and the Afghan government have not yielded any results, and the violence in Afghanistan has escalated sharply.

He said on Thursday: “Pakistan is considered to be useful only if this chaos is resolved in some way, which has been left behind after 20 years of trying to find a military solution without a military solution.”

The prime minister also rejected speculation that he was waiting for a call from US President Joe Biden-since he took office in January this year, he has not had any contact with the prime minister.

“I’ve always heard that President Biden didn’t call me. It’s his business. I’m not waiting for any calls,” he said when answering questions during a meeting with foreign journalists in Islamabad.

Prior to the Prime Minister’s remarks, the National Security Adviser (NSA) Moeed Yusuf stated that Washington’s lack of initiative to interact with Islamabad is beyond his understanding.

“The President of the United States has not spoken to the prime minister of such an important country. The United States itself says that this country has succeeded or failed under certain circumstances, and in certain respects, in Afghanistan — it is difficult for us to understand this signal, right? Right?” Yusuf once told Financial Times In an interview.
