Muharram: NCOC announced special guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19

As Pakistan continues to report an increase in coronavirus cases, NCOC has issued special guidelines for people to protect themselves from the coronavirus during the month of Muharram.

The publication of the guidelines took into account the various suggestions made by ulema.

The NCOC statement emphasized that all majalis (rallies) and juloos (parades) must be conducted in accordance with the government’s coronavirus safety protocol.

This means that during majalis and juloos, all participants must make sure to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

Organizers must use thermal screening equipment to check participants’ body temperature before allowing participants to enter. They must also ensure that people who do not have hand sanitizer and masks are provided with hand sanitizer and masks.

NCOC stated that all gatherings must be held in large, well-ventilated venues, adding that private gatherings at home must be avoided.

According to NCOC, the government can use Razakars’ services to enforce coronavirus security protocols if needed.

It requires that all coronavirus safety precautions be displayed in clearly visible places throughout the majalis field and juloos route.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Council saw the Muharram-ul-Haram moon on Monday, which sounded in the new Islamic year 1443 AH.

Therefore, the first issue of Muharram begins today. Muharram will be held on Wednesday, August 18th, and Youm-e-Ashura will be held on August 19th.
