Pakistan opposes false narratives “peddled” by representatives of the UN Security Council in Afghanistan

Pakistan said on Saturday that it had not accepted the request to the president of the UN Security Council to speak at the meeting and present its views on the peace process in Afghanistan, but instead allowed the Afghan representative to “deplore deeply.” Peddling” false narratives directed at Pakistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement stating that Pakistan is Afghanistan’s closest neighbor, and its contribution to the current peace process has been recognized by the international community.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Afghan representative “spread false information and make baseless accusations against Pakistan in order to mislead the international community” in the UN Security Council statement.

It said Pakistan “flatly rejected these allegations.”

“Pakistan’s position on this issue has been shared with members of the Council,” the statement read.

“Pakistan has repeatedly shared its views on peace and stability with the international community in a clear and unambiguous manner,” it added.

FO stated that Pakistan reiterated that “there is no military solution to the conflict in Afghanistan, and a negotiated political settlement is the only way to lasting peace and security in the country”.

The statement pointed out that with the support of the international community, Pakistan’s constructive efforts have contributed to important milestones in the Doha peace process, including the peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban and the subsequent internal negotiations in Afghanistan.

“As the United States and NATO troops are about to complete their withdrawal from Afghanistan, we are seriously concerned about the increasing violence in Afghanistan and the lack of substantial progress in negotiations within Afghanistan,” it said.

The statement added that Pakistan is deeply concerned about reports of human rights violations and urges all parties to “ensure full respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.”

The statement stated that Pakistan calls on all warring parties in Afghanistan to “avoid military means, participate constructively in negotiations, and work together to achieve an inclusive, extensive and comprehensive political settlement.”

The statement warned: “It is also important to be alert to saboteurs at home and abroad, who do not want to see peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region return.”

Pakistan once again called on the Afghan government to “avoid shirking its responsibilities and engage with Pakistan in a meaningful way to meet the challenges facing peace, security and progress in the region.”

“In this regard, we reiterate the need to effectively use bilateral institutional arrangements, such as the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS),” the FO statement said at the end.
