Pakistan has recorded 40 deaths and 4,858 new corona infections

Pakistan’s National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) said on Monday that the country’s COVID-19 cases continue to surge as the country has recorded 4,858 new infections in the past 24 hours.
NCOC said the total number of confirmed cases in the country has risen to 1,039,695, of which 943,020 have recovered, adding that the positive rate of infection is 8.61%.
NCOC said that in the past 24 hours, COVID-19 has claimed 40 lives across the country, bringing the death toll from the disease to 23,462, adding that 3,441 people are in critical condition.
During this period, 56,414 tests were conducted.
Sindh province is the most affected area in the country, with 385,414 infections, followed by Punjab province with 357,735 cases reported.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province ranked third with 144,848 cases. To date, 88,093 people in Islamabad, 30,502 people in Balochistan, 24,891 people in AJK and GB have reported 8,212 new infections.
In order to curb the spread of the disease, Pakistan has also accelerated the pace of vaccination, and on August 2, a total of 30,590,183 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were vaccinated, including 24,086,196 partial doses and 6,503,987 doses.
