Pakistan has recorded 2,783 new coronavirus infections, with more than 45,000 active cases

• Pakistan reported 39 deaths from COVID-19.

• Pakistan reported a positive rate of 5.65%.

Islamabad: According to statistics shared by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), Pakistan reported 2,783 coronavirus cases on Saturday.

NCOC said that a total of 49,247 people were tested for infection on Friday, of which 2,783 were positive.

This brings the national positive rate to 5.65%. A day ago, the country reported that the positive rate of the virus had risen to 6.17%. The last time Pakistan exceeded the 6% positive rate mark was in May, two months ago.

Pakistan also reported 39 deaths from infections in the past 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has risen to 986,668, while the number of active cases in the country has increased to 45,579.

In terms of recovery, a total of 918,329 people recovered from the infection and 22,759 people died from the virus.

Eid al Adha should be celebrated in a “closed, limited” environment: Dr. Faisal Sultan

Earlier this week, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant to Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan, stated that the upcoming Eid al-Adha will be celebrated in a “limited and closed” environment, implying that more changes will be taken in the fear of the fourth wave of epidemics. “This variant is spreading at a rate of 50-60%,” he said.

Delta variants account for 50% of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan

On Tuesday, the Minister of Health of the Federal Parliament, Dr. Nausheen Hamid, revealed that the delta change of the coronavirus that first appeared in India represented 50% of the total number of infections in Pakistan.

The congressman spoke during the Geo news program Geo Pakistan and said that the COVID-19 vaccine being used in Pakistan is effective against the Delta variant.
