Pakistan has 39 new deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, COVID-19 has claimed 39 lives across Pakistan, bringing the death toll from the disease to 23,087.
According to the latest National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) update, when 49,412 samples were tested, as many as 3,262 new Covid-19 cases emerged.
It said that the positive rate of infection was 6.6%. After 3,262 new infections were detected, the number of cases in Pakistan climbed to 1,011,708.
The current number of active cases is 59,899.
NCOC said that a total of 2,722 patients across the country are receiving intensive care in hospitals, and the number of people who have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours has increased by 1,123, and the number of people who have recovered since the beginning of the pandemic is 928,722.
Sindh province remains the most affected province with 369,245 cases, followed by Punjab province with 353,695 COVID-19 cases. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 142,139 cases, Islamabad has 85,947 cases, Balochistan has 29,681 cases, Gilgit-Baltistan has reported 7,798 COVID-19 cases, and AJK has reported 23,203 cases.
Yesterday, the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) changed its strategy for implementing and lifting smart lockdowns in areas hardest hit by the coronavirus in various parts of Pakistan.
According to sources, in its new strategy, NCOC has decided to launch a Covid-19 vaccination campaign in the smart lockdown zone and announced that it will lift the lockdown for 100% of people living in the virus-affected area.
