Pakistan “deep thanks” to the United States for announcing that it will send 3 million doses of Moderna: FO through COVAX

The government said on Friday that it was “deeply grateful” that the United States announced that it would ship 3 million doses of Moderna vaccine to Pakistan through the United Nations’ COVAX vaccine sharing program.

“The Pakistani government and people are deeply grateful to the White House for announcing the delivery of 3 million doses of Moderna vaccine to Pakistan through COVAX,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a statement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri added: “These vaccines will advance the ongoing vaccination work in Pakistan.”

He said: “This considerate posture is part of the ongoing assistance provided by the United States to Pakistan to support our COVID relief and prevention efforts.”

The statement added: “We look forward to continuing cooperation with the United States in the fight against the pandemic.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki Announced last month The Biden administration will donate 80 million doses of excess COVID-19 vaccine to the world by the end of June.

“As the president promises to play a leading role in ending epidemics everywhere, 2 million doses of Pfizer vaccine will begin to be shipped from the United States to Peru, and 2.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine will be shipped to Pakistan,” Psaki said.

The 2.5 million doses of vaccine arrived in Pakistan on July 2, making it a Moderna vaccine first appeared domestic.

Subsequently, the government announced the availability of Moderna vaccine Choose a vaccination center Starting from July 5th, nationwide.

Criteria for obtaining Moderna vaccine qualification

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) outlines the standards that recipients of Moderna vaccine must meet.

The vaccine will be used in the following categories, provided they are over 18 years old and have not received any other currently available COVID-19 vaccines.

A. People with comorbidities, such as diabetes, hypertension, congestive heart failure, renal failure, chronic liver disease, malignant tumors, etc.

-Those who have been immunosuppressed for a long time

1. After organ transplantation, patients can be vaccinated 3 months later

Porting procedures.

2. After chemotherapy, patients can be vaccinated 28 days after chemotherapy.

B. Individuals who require travel vaccination mandatory

-Overseas workers who hold a valid work visa/iqama in a country/region that does not currently accept Chinese vaccines and need to work abroad

– student

-People traveling for official or business purposes

Pregnant and breastfeeding women who fall into the above categories can be vaccinated with Moderna vaccine.
