Pakistan criticizes India for not allowing foreign journalists to visit Azad Kashmir

• FM Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar and Shireen Mazari called on India to try to stifle independent media.
• Qureshi said the move was “another damn sign” that the space for free speech in India is shrinking.

Islamabad: Pakistan calls on India to refuse to allow five foreign journalists to travel to Azad Kashmir to cover the Azad Kashmir conference.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi pointed out how the Indian government’s decision shows that India’s current “dictatorship” is shrinking the space for independent news.

He said on Twitter: “India has refused to allow five international journalists to travel to Pakistan. Among them, it plans to visit the Azad Kashmir parliament. This is another sign of the curse of the reduction of freedom of speech and independent press space under the dictatorship.”

Information Minister Fawad Chowdhury also criticized New Delhi for refusing to allow international journalists to visit Azad Kashmir.

The minister urged India to allow journalists to visit India-occupied Kashmir and report on disputed territories.

“India refuses to allow five foreign journalists to visit Pakistan. They should attend the Azad Kashmir parliament meeting on August 5. We hope that India will allow independent journalists to visit IOK and let them report the facts,” he said. Tweet.

Federal Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Assad Omar said that although Pakistan has nothing to hide from the world in Azad Kashmir, on the other hand, India wants exactly this.

“The difference is simple @fawadchaudhry. We want the world to see what is happening in Azad Kashmir. They want to hide what is happening in Indian-occupied Kashmir. The difference between right and wrong couldn’t be more obvious,” he wrote.

Federal Minister of Human Rights Shireen Mazari wants to know whether foreign journalists will expose Modi’s regime’s attempts to stifle independent media.

“Why do we have different expectations for the fascist Modi regime? The question is whether these foreign journalists will now report on this rejection and expose the myth of the growing democracy in India under fascist Modi?” she asked.
