Pakistan and China exchange views on the evolution of the situation in Afghanistan

Islamabad: On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi and Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang Yi discussed the changing situation in Afghanistan by telephone.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the conversation, Prime Minister Qureshi emphasized that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is vital to Pakistan and the region.

He said that from this perspective, Pakistan has been tirelessly supporting the peace process in Afghanistan.

The statement pointed out that as part of the “Troika+”, Pakistan and China have made valuable contributions to these efforts.

It quoted Qureshi as saying that, given the current situation, it is extremely important to ensure the safety and security of the Afghan people and protect their rights.

He emphasized that an inclusive political solution is essential, and for this, all Afghans should work together.

Qureshi said that it is equally important for the international community to continue to support the Afghan people.

He emphasized that the international community must also continue economic contacts with Afghanistan.

He briefed Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate the evacuation of personnel, diplomatic missions, international organizations, media and other personnel from Afghanistan.

Qureshi said that Pakistan and China are “iron brothers” and strategic partners.

The two countries have a tradition of maintaining close coordination and communication on issues of common concern.

The two sides agreed to maintain close contact and promote the common goals of the two countries.
