The Dice Foundation, run by overseas Pakistanis, developed Pakistan’s first Electronic car The company announced on Friday that its battery prototype will be unveiled in the next three to four months.

Dr. Khursheed Qureshi, the founder and chairman of the Dice Foundation, told Express tribune By leveraging the expertise of the Pakistani diaspora, the country has successfully designed the first local electric car.

A group of overseas Pakistanis working in the automotive industry in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom volunteered for the manufacture of electric vehicles.

Dr. Khurshid said that battery packs for electric vehicles are also manufactured in Pakistan, and the design and manufacturing process will be completed in the next two months.

He said that electric vehicles are not reverse engineered, but are manufactured in accordance with international standards, and expressed the hope that they can compete with the world’s top electric vehicles.

Dr. Khurshid said that so far, 100,000 US dollars have been spent on the manufacture of this car, and the funds have been donated by members of the Dice Foundation.

He added that the cost of developing an electric car prototype could be as high as US$100 million, but due to the voluntary services provided by Pakistanis overseas, the cost has been greatly reduced.

Dr. Khurshid said that in addition to the Dice Foundation, technical education institutions in Pakistan also provided assistance. The technical analysis of the project is being carried out at DHA Suffa University, and work related to its battery packaging is being carried out at the NED Engineering University in Karachi.

According to Dr. Qureshi, the interior and exterior design of the car was jointly developed by the National Academy of Arts (NCA) and other universities.

Similarly, the manufacture of automobiles is done by the Technical Education and Vocational Training Agency (TEVTA).

He said that the car’s battery pack is designed according to local weather, environment and driving conditions and has a service life of at least 10 years.

The electric vehicle project is one of the other projects operated by the foundation in Pakistan, aiming to showcase the expertise of overseas Pakistanis in the field of technology.
