NSA Moeed Yusuf meets with American counterparts to discuss the situation in Afghanistan

Senior national security officials from Pakistan and the United States held discussions on the current situation in Afghanistan and the need to urgently reduce violence in the country.
National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf is in the United States to meet with senior US officials, legislators and think tanks to exchange views on changes in the regional security situation.
A statement said that his visit was part of high-level bilateral exchanges between the two countries.
“Today we had an active follow-up meeting with NSA @JakeSullivan46 in Washington. The progress made since the Geneva meeting was assessed and bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest were discussed,” the Pakistan National Security Agency wrote on Twitter.

On the other hand, US National Security Agency Director Jack Sullivan said that he had consulted with Yusuf on areas of mutual cooperation such as regional connectivity and security.
“We discussed the urgent need to reduce violence in Afghanistan and negotiate a political settlement of the conflict,” he said in a statement after the meeting.
