Novak Djokovic admitted that he will win his sixth Wimbledon title and a record 20th major against Italy’s Matteo Berretttini on Sunday. Slam champion, “this will mean everything”, the latter has the physique of a heavyweight boxer.

Djokovic will be on par with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in his career Grand Slam and will advance three-quarters of the first major in more than half a century.

The 34-year-old player ranked 30th in his seventh Wimbledon final and Grand Slam.

Federer, who is only 31 years old, has participated in more Grand Slam championships, but the declining Swiss star is 5 years older.

“It means everything. This is why I am here. This is why I play,” said Djokovic, who has won the ninth Australian Open and the second French Open in 2021.

The victory in Paris made him the third person to win all four majors more than once.

“Before coming to London, I imagined that I had the ability to fight for another Grand Slam trophy.

“I put myself in a very good position. Everything is possible in the final. Obviously experience is on my side.”

Djokovic needed all this experience and the famous steel will to defeat Denis Shapovalov in the semifinals, who saved 10 of 11 break points.

Shapovalov was very frustrated with the failure of his full attack, he pushed Djokovic to the edge, and he left the center court in tears.

Djokovic said after winning the 20th consecutive grass pitch: “Once I step on the pitch, there is no obstacle, especially in the later stages when I have always dreamed of winning the game.”

‘This is crazy’

“The dream continues. I try to use my best in every game and see what happens. Giving up is never an option.”

Djokovic could also win his 85th career championship on Sunday, while his field revenue exceeded the $150 million mark.

The 25-year-old Berrettini, ranked ninth in the world, is the first Italian ever to reach the singles final at Wimbledon.

The victory will make him the first Italian men’s Grand Slam champion since Adriano Panatta (Adriano Panatta) at the French Open in 1976.

He has lost two previous encounters with Djokovic, including the quarter-finals at the French Open last month.

But his record on the grass this season is 11-0, winning the Queen’s Club game on the eve of Wimbledon.

At the All England Club, he reached the final with the support of 101 aces leading the championship.

Berrettini won the second fastest serving speed so far with a score of 223.7 km/h in the first round victory over Argentina’s Guido Pera.

Weighing 95 kg-the same as a heavyweight boxer-Berrettini has also released 254 winners to Djokovic’s 190 so far.

However, compared with the Serbian’s 126 times, his unforced errors are 167 times.

Each of them only missed five serves.

Sunday’s final may not be a great shooting game-both players averaged less than four shots.

Meanwhile, Berrettini did not serve and volley once in his six games.

“It will be a great atmosphere. My first final at Wimbledon is crazy when I think about it,” Berrettini said.

Sunday’s shocking victory may be the first part of Italy’s sports doubles in London, where the country’s football team will face England in the Euro 2020 final.

“Obviously for the average Italian, but Sunday will be difficult,” he said.

Berrettini is likely to rank most of the 15,000 fans in the center court behind him.

Djokovic is already familiar with such a scene.

Djokovic admitted: “People also like to see a loser win, or don’t want to win, not the person who likes to win the most.”

“But I hope people will also realize the importance of this game to me and the upcoming history.

“In terms of crowd support on Sunday, I am ready for anything that is about to happen.”
