The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday approved the pre-arrest bail of former President and PPP co-chair Asif Ali Zardari, who was suspected of owning an expensive apartment in New York in a NAB investigation.
The Judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) approved Asif Ali Zardari’s bail until July 28, but must submit a security deposit worth 500,000 rupees. The court issued a notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requesting a response to his bail request at the next hearing.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari (Asif Ali Zardari) appeared in court under a subpoena.
After the Islamabad High Court sent him a notice and a questionnaire to provide information about his Bel Air apartment, he applied for bail in the Islamabad High Court.
“This notice relates to the Belaire property located on the 37th floor of 524 East 72nd Street, Manhattan, New York, USA,” the notice read. It said that preliminary investigations revealed that former President and PPP co-chair Asif Ali Zardari owns the apartment, but “the property is not involved in your disclosure in Pakistan”.
“In addition, it seems that you have not made a legal remittance from Pakistan for the purchase of the above-mentioned property. In view of this, please provide detailed answers to the attached questionnaire and supporting information/documents related to the theme apartment in New York City, USA,” the notice said.
