Lahore: Police said on Wednesday that the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) conducted a medical examination of Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman, the defendant in a sexual abuse case, and the survivors .
Last week, a video showing Rehman sexually abusing a seminary student went viral on social media.
The student once said that Rehman sexually abused him, and the clergy’s sons began to blackmail and threatened to kill him. “If justice is not done, I will commit suicide,” the survivor said in the flight information area.
The clergyman was later arrested in a raid in Mianwali on Sunday and was remanded for four days in a case filed by the Lahore Police Station. He will appear in court again tomorrow (Thursday).
The medical examination is performed according to a court order. The police said that these reports will be released within a few days.
The defendant’s DNA information has also been added to the PFSA database.
Mufti admits to sexually abused students
Once the police registered the case against Aziz, he fled the Islamic school where he was working to avoid arrest and sought asylum in the homes of some of his students. The police have said that Aziz was hiding in different areas, including the township, Shehupura, Faisalabad and Mianwari.
They said that Aziz and his sons were found through the location of their mobile phones. When the police finally arrested them, they were hiding in cotton.
On Monday, the police said he “confessed his crime during the interrogation”.
According to the police, Aziz, the former head of Jamia Manzor Al-Islamia in Kant, Lahore, admitted that the viral video was shown to him and said it was “secretly filmed” by his students.
The clergyman also admitted that he had lured the student with a passing test score and later sexually abused him. He also said that once the video went viral on the Internet, he was afraid of the consequences.
Aziz told the police that his son had threatened the student and told him not to discuss the matter with anyone. However, despite the threats, the student continued to post the video online.
The priest also stated that he released the video statement because he did not want to leave the Islamic school, adding that after the video was leaked, the management of the Islamic school urged him to resign.
