Mahrukh Chohan became the youngest candidate to pass CSS Customs exam

Mahrukh Chohan, from Bahawalpur, has become the youngest Central Superior Services (CSS) servant to join the Pakistan Customs Service Group.

She ranked seventy-third in the CSS examinations in 2021. With this feat, she has become the youngest CSS officer to join the Customs services in the history of the Customs department and Pakistan.

Mahrukh Chohan is the daughter of the Major (Retd) Muhammad Akhtar Abid Chouhan. She originally hails from Kharian Tehsil of Gujrat Punjab. She pursued her education in various cantonments schools due to the nature of the job her father. Mahrukh Chohan has a BS in Accounting and Finance from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad.

In her interview with Daily Pakistan, she stated that she did not join any academy for the preparations for the CSS examinations but it was a result of her self-study.

Chohan further stated that they have been living in Bahawalpur for the past ten years. She has two sisters and a brother. In her interview, she revealed that she changed nearly 10 high schools but continued her journey toward success.

One of her elder sisters is a doctor. She has recently completed her FCPS (Part One). While the younger sister is in the fourth year of MBBS.

Regarding her academic credentials, she said: “She has a BS in Accounting and Finance from National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Islamabad. She was to graduate in 2020 but did not complete her final semester on time. The university was closed for covid-19 and then later the university took the online exam.”

Chohan stated that she started preparing for the CSS examinations during the pandemic. She said she graduated in 2020 from university and passed the CSS examination in February 2021.

“There is no regular academy in Bahawalpur, which prepare CSS applicants. That’s why I did all the preparations with the help of the internet. I did all CSS preparations on myself,” said Mahrukh Chohan.
