Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that the government committed the “biggest mistake” by giving former prime minister Nawaz Sharif permission to go abroad for treatment.

Addressing a public rally in Mandi Bahauddin, the prime minister said the opposition wanted him gone because they wanted to save their looted wealth and evade jails.

Speaking about the potential no-trust motion against him, Imran said the opposition wanted to bring a no-trust move against him because they “want to save their skin by dislodging the [PTI] government”.

“We are ready for everything. Captain is ready to thwart all of your plans. InshaAallah, you will again face defeat, rather go to jail,” the prime minister said.

Referring to the opposition leaders, he said all of the “thieves and dacoits” were in fact afraid of him and reiterated his stance of giving no NRO to them until they returned the looted public money.

He also lashed at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

He said Shehbaz will be convicted whenever the court took up the money laundering case against him. “I was proved truthful and honest before the court; why are they being afraid of facing courts,” he added.

About PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, he said the PML-N leader should answer for the deposit of Rs800 million in her account. She should come clean about this transaction, he added.

Imran said courts were independent as the government respected the judiciary. He said Justice Sajjad was pressurised and chased away from courts as he was hearing the corruption case against the opposition. The prime minister also claimed that the Quetta bench of the Supreme was “bought”.

"Now Maryam sahiba says she has tapes. Have you ever heard of politicians keeping tapes and blackmailing judges?" Alluding to purported tapes of former CJ Saqib Nisar and deceased accountability judge Arshad Malik, he said this is not what politicians do “this is the work of mafias”.

Speaking about inflation, PM Imran said there was no doubt about hyperinflation in Pakistan. He said due to disruption in the supply chain, the prices across the world rose significantly. A barrel of oil jumped from $40 to 90$, he said, adding, “What can we do in this regard?”

However, the government is aware of the issues faced by the people due to inflation, Imran said, adding that the government will take measures to end inflation.

He said tax collection during the PTI government increased to a record level whereas remittances were also at an all-time high. He said the farmers were making record profits as well.

The premier said that for the first time Pakistan had an independent foreign policy, adding, “Pakistan does not take dictation from anyone anymore.” He said in the past, the governments could not do anything about the drone strikes because their money was parked in foreign accounts.

Imran also touted the health card during his speech, saying his government was revolutionising the healthcare sector.
