Karachi University announced on Thursday that it has approved the continuation of its traditional two-year degree program, a statement issued by the school team said.

According to the statement, the university established a committee to implement the two-year associate degree program and the four-year bachelor degree program proposed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in stages.

KU academic committee members also decided to postpone the two-year associate degree program to June 2022. The academic committee meeting was held in the Art Auditorium, chaired by Professor Khalid Mahmood, Vice President of KU.

The decision to restore the traditional bachelor and master programs was based on the recommendations of the committee led by Professor Jamil H Kazmi.

At the same time, the Academic Committee also established a committee, chaired by Professor Nasir Sulman, Dean of the Faculty of Education. After consulting with the heads of various departments, the two-year associate degree and four-year bachelor’s degree courses were implemented in stages. Karachi University.

The committee is composed of Professor Anila Amber Malik, Professor Intikhab Ulfat, Professor Samina Saeed, Professor Maqsood Ali Ansari, Professor Taseer Ahmed Khan and Professor Nadeem Mahmood.

It will share its recommendations with academic committee members to formalize the courses of HEC’s proposed degree program.

In addition, all members of the academic committee strongly condemned the statement issued by the university faculty group, in which they accused KU VC professor Dr. Khalid Iraq of “deliberately not announcing admission to the university’s BA, BSc, BCom and MA courses.”

The Academic Committee observed that the decision was made in accordance with HEC policy, and Karachi University is waiting for HEC to clarify various agendas.

The 4-year undergraduate and 2-year associate degree cannot be extended: HEC

It is worth mentioning that a few days ago, HEC clarified that all the news circulating in the news and electronic media about HEC’s postponement of four-year undergraduate and two-year associate degree programs were released in the context of HEC. The meeting of the Principal Committee on July 2, 2021 was misleading and incorrect.

HEC said in a statement that both plans are intact and will continue as before.

HEC’s policy on “Transition from BA/BSc to Associate Degree Courses: Phased Abolishment of MA/MSc Courses” stipulated in the notice on July 11, 2019 will continue to be implemented in letter and spirit.
