The committee wrote on Twitter that the Human Rights Protection Committee was shocked by reports that the Karachi transgender community used a wave of threatening audio/video messages to incite violence.

HRCP calls on the Sindh provincial government to pay attention to “this systematic attempt to marginalize and investigate already fragile communities.”

According to Geographic News, vulgar language was used in these audio and video messages produced in different areas of Baldia, Orangi, Randi and Karachi.

The person in the video threatens transgender people with serious consequences.

Bindiya Rana, a Pakistani transgender activist and founder of the Gender Interaction Alliance (GIA), stated that an organized campaign against transgender people was launched in May 2021.

Rana said that more than 200 threatening video and audio messages have been received, adding that these messages have caused fear and insecurity among transgender people in Karachi.

GIA has informed the People’s Rights Joint Action Committee of this information in a letter.

On March 31, a transgender person was attacked and tortured at her home in Aziz Bhatti. On March 31, the Aziz Bhatti Police Department registered the FIR for the incident.

The defendant was arrested today after three and a half months.The investigator said that the defendant will appear in court tomorrow and will seek remand
