Karachi Police Chief Opens Urban Flood Rescue Unit

Karachi Police Chief Imran Yaqoob Minhas unveiled the urban flood rescue unit established by the security department of the Sindh Provincial Police Department on Saturday.
The head of the security department, DIG Maqsood Ahmed Memon, said on Saturday that the additional IGP Karachi Imran Yaqoob Minhas visited the headquarters of the special security department, where he was welcomed by him and other senior officials.
An SSU task force issued a guard of honor to the city’s highest police.
The additional IGP hosted a meeting in the SSU conference hall, where he listened to DIG Ahmed’s brief introduction of different parts of the unit.
Commander SSU Zeeshan Shafique Siddiqui, SSP Court Police Ch. Asad, SP Security-II Amjad Hayat, SP FSC Abdul Qayoom Pitafi, SP Madadgar-15 Abdullah Memon, SP SSU Irum Awan, SP Chowkandi Dr Najeeb and SP Security-I Asghar Usman attended the meeting.
Police Chief Mijas praised the Special Security Unit for maintaining professional police standards in the management, administration and counter-terrorism operations, as well as efforts to improve professional standards in accordance with international standards.
He established the Urban Flood Relief Unit at the SSU headquarters, which was established under the supervision of DIG Memon.
DIG Memon stated that the urban flood rescue team is composed of SSU commandos equipped with the latest rescue equipment, and the boat will remain vigilant around the clock to deal with any situation during heavy rain.
Subsequently, Additional IGP Minhas also witnessed simulation exercises conducted by special weapons and tactical team commandos, and DIG security presented shields to the chief of police.
