Today is August 15th, which is designated as the 75th Independence Day. On this occasion, Google came up with a special doodle to celebrate India’s Independence Day, which contains the rich cultural traditions deeply rooted in the country.
On August 15, 1947, when India separated from British colonial rule, Google Doodle celebrated various dance forms, from the classic Bharatnatyam tradition to Tamil Nadu, the oldest Indian dance style in southern India with its origins dating back 3000 years.
Google has launched Google Doodle since 2003, when it was just a simple search. The word “O” was replaced by the Ashok chakra and the Indian flag, waving along the letter “L” in an animated manner.
However, Google Graffiti has continued to develop over the years, and the technology giant has collaborated with local artists to produce complex designs that basically represent India’s rich cultural heritage. In 2020, Google used Mumbai artist Sachin Ghanekar’s illustrations to commemorate the 74th Indian Independence Day.
The featured artwork of graffiti features many iconic Indian folk musical instruments, including tutari, shehnai, dhol, veena, sarangi and bansuri. “From versatile oboe instruments to resonating stringed instruments, these instruments are just a few of the instruments that make up India’s rich musical heritage, with a history dating back more than 6000 years… The musical diversity represented by this unique series reflects the patchwork of Indians The culture is celebrated across the country today,” the company announced.
