IND vs SL 2021: “If we perform well in the second ODI, we will win the series”

Starring Avishka Fernando in the opening game, Sri Lanka achieved a consoling victory in the third ODI against India at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday (July 23).

Chasing 226 times, Avishka Fernando (76) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (65) added 109 times to the second wicket to guide the islanders to victory. Although the host lost a few wickets in the end, Sri Lanka’s goal was within reach. They chased the target with eight points of spare power and three wickets.

At the end of the game, the player Avishka Fernando regretted losing the plot at the end of the second ODI, which was the reason for losing the series. He says,

“If we perform well in the second game, we will win the series. However, I am very happy with today’s best player award. After the England Tour, I am committed to hitting, which helps. We have a very young team and I believe we will do well in the future.”

Avishka Fernando is the most impressive Sri Lankan cricket player in the series. He scored 159 points in the series, including two and a half centuries.However, he lacked the support of others, resulting in Dashun Mountain Start his captain mission with failure.

The newly appointed Sri Lankan captain praised his teammates for showing individuality against the powerful Indian team. Dasun Shanaka said,

“Congratulations to India for winning the series. This is a very good series. The young people have shown great maturity in batting and ball. This is what I expect from them. This is a huge victory for the fans. They have been waiting for this victory for many years. We have defeated India at home.”

With the end of the ODI series and the dust settled, India and Sri Lanka will now shift their focus to the three T20I series starting on July 25.
