A chamber of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the IHC’s single-seat judgment on Thursday to remove the chairman of the National Bank of Pakistan, Arif Usmani (Arif Usmani) and the chairman of the board of directors (BoD) Zubyr Soomro.

Last month, a single bench in the High Court ordered the removal of Usmani and Soomro in response to a petition that challenged their appointments.

The two-person bench, composed of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamer Farooq, heard miscellaneous appeals against the single bench’s decision to remove the two.

Attorney General Khalid Javid appeared in court on behalf of the Minister of Finance, while senior lawyer Mahdum Ali Khan appeared in the High Court on behalf of his client Usmani.

The Minister of Justice stated that Usmani and Somru were affected by the decision of the single judge.

AG stated that there is no problem with advertising for the presidency of NBP.

The court served a notice on the defendant in this case and adjourned the trial.
